One lucky pupil was able to watch Australia vs Scotland at Murrayfield last weekend. Another had travelled on the Polar Express and showed us an interesting artefact. In other news, Matthew was Star of the Week for making valuable contributions in research activities and class discussions. Well done! Year 6 will be singing one of my favourite carols for this year's Carol Service: a very upbeat one called Calypso Carol! I wonder if anyone can find out what 'calypso' means or where it is from? Get practising! This week's 100 word challenge is a little different: a comic strip!
In Art, we will be looking at portraits and on Friday we will write a 100 word challenge linked to the comic strip. Below is a taster scene from the comic, but you will need to click here for the whole version! Next week, we will be learning about proportion (just fractions really) and ratio! Then on Thursday, you will review area and perimeter. Before you have a go at the games, look at the work Mr Patterson's class did on it last week: http://5tanfieldlea.weebly.com/1/post/2013/11/ratios-in-sweets.html Here are the links to the week's games: Monday http://www.arcademics.com/games/dirt-bike-proportions/dirt-bike-proportions.html Tuesday http://www.arcademicskillbuilders.com/games/ratio-stadium/ratio-stadium.html Thursday We will look at area and perimeter. Here is one my favourite raps to remember what the perimeter is: Our Show and Tells were extra special this week: a miner's lamp, a Stephenson Rocket radio, a programme from the Oliver musical and a History book which inspired our Remembrance Day 100 word challenge.
